Bodie Historical State Park & Mono Lake South Tufa Preserve

Join us for an immersive and inspiring photography workshop set amidst the captivating ghost town of Bodie State Historic Park. This workshop is tailored for both amateur and seasoned photographers seeking to refine their skills and capture the essence of this remarkable historical site.

Bodie State Historic Park is a genuine California gold-mining ghost town. Only a small part of the town survives, preserved in a state of "arrested decay." Interiors remain as they were left and stocked with goods. The remains of Bodie are being preserved in a state of "arrested decay". Today this once thriving mining camp is visited by photographers, howling winds and an occasional ghost.

We’ll spend 3 full days photographing the Milky Way, star trails, amazing deserted buildings, wildlife, sunrises & sunsets on this adventure.

Workshop Highlights:

Explore: We’ll explore the Mono Lake South Tufa Preserve photographing the spectacular "tufa towers," calcium-carbonate spires and knobs formed by interaction of freshwater springs and alkaline lake water. The lake is a habitat for 1–2 million birds that feed and rest at Mono Lake each year. We’ll be photographing wildlife, the sunset and the sunrise.

August 3rd

Meet at 5:15 AM (45 minutes to Bodie)

6:00 AM Park Entry

Exclusive access to Bodies buildings; Hotel, School House, Gambling Hall, Morgue, Jail, Firehouse and Shops

Shooting until Noon - (return to Hotel…. optional to stay in Bodie on your own)

August 4th

Meet at 4:45 AM - Sunrise South Tufa Preserve (Sunrise at 6:03 AM)

Afternoon on your own

Cancellation Policy

Any cancellation must be done in writing. If you don’t get a cancellation confirmation, we did not get the cancellation request.

Photography Workshops Only:

Full payment is due at the time of registration.

Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the scheduled workshop will result in a refund, less a service charge of $150.
Cancellations made between 8-29 days prior to the scheduled workshop will result in credit towards another workshop or overnight workshop, less a service charge of $150.
Cancellations or no shows less than 7 days prior to the scheduled workshop will be NON-REFUNDABLE for any reason.

Photo Overnight Workshops (Overnight stays involved):

Full payment is due at the time of registration.

Cancellations made at least 60 days prior to the scheduled photo overnight workshop will result in a refund, less a service charge of $150.
Cancellations made 60 – 31 days prior to the scheduled photo overnight workshop will result in 50% forfeit of the total cost and 50% credit towards another workshop or overnight workshop.
Cancellations made 30 – 15 days prior to the scheduled photo tour or overnight workshop will result in 70% forfeit of the total cost and 30% credit towards another workshop or overnight workshop
Cancellations (or no shows) made less than 14 days prior to the scheduled photo overnight workshop will be NON-REFUNDABLE for any reason.

If you are due a refund according to applicable cancellation policy above, you will receive a credit, less $150 service charge, via your original method of payment. Please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to appear on your account.
